How much time do you need for Maspalomas Dunes: 30 minutes, half a day or longer?
Updated October 15, 2026 · 5 min read
For most visitors, reserve about 90 minutes around the Guided Camel Ride in the Maspalomas Sand Dunes: the booked ride lasts 30 minutes, while arrival, check-in and leaving need their own margin. Choose the two-hour e-scooter tour when you want a guided look at beaches and dunes. The three-hour camel safari is a half-day plan, but it takes place in Fataga rather than being a longer visit to the Maspalomas sand.
The published durations compared
| Experience | Duration | From | Rating | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guided Camel Ride in the Maspalomas Sand Dunes | 30 minutes | €18 | 4.5 (5,146) | one compact dunes activity |
| Camel Ride at Camel Safari Park | 30 minutes | €20 | 4.0 (320) | short ride plus a park visit |
| e-Scooter City Tour plus Camel Ride | 2 hours | €89 | 5.0 (25) | a guided coast-and-dunes circuit |
| Camel Ride Safari with Optional Food and Transport | 3 hours | €48 | 4.2 (1,268) | a Fataga half-day |
| Skydiving over the Maspalomas Dunes | 90 minutes | €299 | 4.9 (107) | an organised jump, not a dunes walk |
When 30 minutes is enough
The bestseller is deliberately narrow: a 30-minute ride in a two-seat saddle with Saharawi guides. It works when the camel ride is one stop in a day based in southern Gran Canaria. The stated duration is the activity time, not a promise that parking, check-in and queues fit inside the same half-hour. Do not place a restaurant reservation immediately after it.

The Camel Safari Park alternative also lists 30 minutes for the ride, but its description adds feeding animals and walking through a tropical garden. Allow extra time if those are the reasons you chose it. It is an oasis setting, not a second route through the Maspalomas Dunes.
Two hours or half a day
The e-scooter option uses two hours to show beaches and dunes with a local guide. Its camel ride is described as optional, so do not build your schedule around that add-on until the selected option confirms it. This is the better time block for someone who wants orientation, not merely a photograph from a saddle.
The three-hour safari belongs to Fataga Nature Reserve and the Valley of a Thousand Palms. Treat it as a half day once travel and check-in are included. It is a poor choice if your fixed aim is sunset or a walk at the Maspalomas Dunes; its longer duration buys a different location.
The 90-minute skydive is also misleading as a dunes timetable: Maspalomas is the view below, while free fall and parachute flight are the activity. Keep some margin around it rather than planning to the minute.
Our recommendation
Choose the 30-minute guided camel ride for a compact first experience and keep roughly 90 minutes free around it. Pick the e-scooter circuit for a two-hour guided overview. Give up half a day only for Fataga when the palm valley, rather than Maspalomas itself, is what you want.
