Jet ski on Gran Canaria: minimum age, what it costs, and which tour to book

Updated October 3, 2026 · 8 min read

Two riders on a jet ski crossing open water with a white wake behind them, steep brown cliffs and hotel blocks of the south coast in the distance

The short answer: if you are two people, book the Jet Ski Tour with Hotel Transfer from Pasito Blanco — €130 for the two of you together, a full hour, hotel pickup, photos included, and 5.0 stars from 546 reviews. If you are riding alone, the Jetski Tour from Puerto Rico at €69.90 per person is the better buy and by far the most reviewed. And if there is a child in the party, read the next section before you book anything: the limits run from seven years old to eighteen, depending entirely on the operator.

Two numbers that are not what they look like

The price unit changes between offers. Some are per person, some are per group of two on one machine. €130 for two riders is €65 each, which is less than €69.90 each. The booking page states the unit under the price; it is the single most expensive thing to misread in this category, and the titles never mention it.

The duration includes the briefing. The most-reviewed tour is sold as 30 minutes to one hour, and the operator’s own review summary records travellers saying the ride felt shorter than advertised, with transfers eating into it. Budget for a safety briefing, the walk out to the machine and the return — the time on the throttle is the shorter number.

The minimum age is not one number

This is where the operators differ most, and where guessing costs you the booking.

Gran Canaria Water Sport, the Puerto Rico tour: not suitable for children under 18 years. Also excluded, by the operator: pregnant women, people with heart problems, wheelchair users and non-swimmers.

Tickets Gran Canaria, the Playa del Inglés safari: not suitable for children under 18 years, and not for pregnant women. It asks you to bring a passport or ID card — the only one of the five that does.

Maspalomas JetSki Tour, from Pasito Blanco: the most permissive, and also the one whose page needs reading twice. The exclusion list says it is not suitable for children under seven, and the highlights say children from seven can ride accompanied by a parent. The description, further down the same page, says the activity is suitable for children aged five and over at the parents’ discretion. Two different lower limits on one page: take the stricter one, and have it confirmed by the operator before you travel with a six-year-old.

The same page carries the number that applies to every machine here regardless of operator: the minimum age to drive a jet ski is 16. Below that, a young passenger rides behind an adult, and only where the operator allows passengers at all.

Nothing in any of these descriptions is a licence requirement for you — all five are guided, with a monitor or a guide in the group. What a given operator asks to see on the day is on its own booking page, and where it is silent, ask before you pay.

What the Puerto Rico tour actually includes

The best-reviewed jet ski experience on the island is run by Gran Canaria Water Sport S.L. from Puerto Base in Puerto Rico. You drive your own machine while a monitor accompanies the group from a safety boat — that is the format, and it explains the instructor languages of Spanish and English. Included are the life jacket, insurance, the jet ski and the transfer from the harbour out to it.

Not included: hotel pickup, food and drinks, and tips. The meeting point is described in unusual detail — a yellow flag with the operator’s logo and the word “jetski”, just past the Grill Costa Mar restaurant at the corner of the commercial dock, and you are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Cameras and large bags are not allowed on board, so leave them at the hotel: unlike the Playa del Inglés safari, this tour does not mention lockers.

What the hour from Pasito Blanco adds

The Maspalomas tour starts and ends at Puerto de Pasito Blanco and runs for an hour, with two stops for photographs and video. If there are two of you, the operator lets you swap drivers at the halfway point, half an hour each. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, as are the photos and videos, insurance, a changing and toilet area and free parking if you drive yourself.

Two practical notes from its page that no other operator mentions: bring a t-shirt to wear under the life jacket, and bring a change of clothes if you have booked the pickup, so you are not sitting wet in the car afterwards. The operator also asks to be contacted before you reserve.

The cheaper and the dearer end

At the bottom, the 30-minute ride from Maspalomas at €59.50 per person is a free-ride circuit in sight of the dunes rather than a coastal run, with pickup and drop-off at no charge. Its title says 30 minutes and its booking entry says one hour, which is the briefing-plus-ride gap again; 3.8 stars from 40 reviews is the weakest figure in this comparison.

At the top, the Lighthouse Jet Ski Safari costs €149 for two and includes hotel pickup inside Playa del Inglés, a guide, a safety briefing, lockers and insurance. Food and drinks are not included. It is the most expensive hour here, its 3.9 stars rest on 56 reviews, and the thing it genuinely solves is luggage: it is the only one that tells you where to put your phone.

When a jet ski is the wrong booking

If anyone in the group is pregnant, has a heart condition, uses a wheelchair or cannot swim, the Puerto Rico operator excludes them outright and the others are unlikely to differ — ask rather than turn up. If the sea is lively, a jet ski is harder work than it looks, and none of these pages promises a refund for rough water beyond the standard free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead.

And if the aim is simply time on the water with the family, this is the expensive way to get it. An hour on a machine for two costs about as much as two tickets on a half-day boat trip with food and drinks, where several boats sell the jet ski as an extra at the swim stop — €35 per vehicle on the Afrikat catamaran, for instance. Other water sports in the south are collected under jet ski and water sports, and what works with children generally is in Gran Canaria with kids.

Our recommendation

For most people, meaning two of you: the Jet Ski Tour with Hotel Transfer at €130 for the pair. A full hour, two photo stops, a driver swap halfway, pickup included, 5.0 stars from 546 reviews. Per head that is €65 — less than the single-rider price anywhere else on this list.

Riding alone: the Jetski Tour from Puerto Rico at €69.90. The monitor rides alongside in a safety boat, and 4.6 stars from 1,153 reviews is the broadest evidence in this category by a wide margin. No pickup, so plan how you get to Puerto Base.

With a child under 18: only the Pasito Blanco tour allows it at all, as a passenger behind a parent, and its own page sets the floor at seven in two places. Driving starts at 16 everywhere. Get the age confirmed by the operator before you pay.

For the lowest price: the 30 minutes from Maspalomas at €59.50, with free pickup. It is a circuit rather than a coastal tour, and with 3.8 stars from 40 reviews it is the one on this list we would check the recent reviews for before booking.
