Private yacht on Gran Canaria: how many people does it take to make it worth it?
Updated October 7, 2026 · 8 min read
The short answer: a private yacht is a group purchase. The price is for the boat, not per head, so it only beats a shared catamaran once you are about seven or eight people. For a group of eight, the Best Private Yacht in Gran Canaria from Puerto Rico is €540 for the whole boat: €67.50 each, with an open bar, tapas, snorkelling gear, paddleboards, hotel pickup and 5.0 stars from 110 reviews. Four people pay €135 each, two pay €270 each, and at those sizes a shared boat is the better buy. If you want a private boat for one hour only, the Mogán option at €180 for the boat is the cheap way in.

The unit is the boat, not the person
On every private charter below, the booking page prices a group, not a ticket: “per group up to 8” or “up to 9”. You pay the same whether four or eight people step aboard. That is the whole maths, and it is why the cost per person falls so fast as the group grows.
What it costs per person
These figures are the price shown for each boat divided by the number of people. Nothing here is a tier or a discount: the operators publish one price for the boat.
| People | €540 boat (3 hours) | €449 boat (3 hours) | €180 boat (1 hour) | Shared catamaran |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | €270 | €224.50 | €90 | €77 (Fun Catamaran Cruise) |
| 4 | €135 | €112.25 | €45 | €77 |
| 6 | €90 | €74.83 | €30 | €77 |
| 7 | €77.14 | not shown | not shown | €77 |
| 8 | €67.50 | not shown | €22.50 | €77 |
| 9 | not shown | €49.89 | not shown | €77 |
The €449 boat is priced for up to 9 people, the other two for up to 8, so the empty cells are sizes the price label does not cover.
Read it against the shared price:
- €540 boat versus the €77 Fun Catamaran Cruise: it needs eight people. At seven it is €77.14, 14 cents dearer; at eight it is €67.50, which is €9.50 less per person.
- €540 boat versus the €84 Luxury Morning Catamaran: it starts to win at seven people (€77.14).
- €449 boat: it beats the €77 catamaran from six people (€74.83), but it is the boat with the weakest reviews of the group, see below.
- €680 boat: even full at eight people it is €85 each, so it never beats either catamaran on price. Pay for it only if you want that operator’s itinerary.
Why a shared catamaran is the right answer for most couples
The shared cruises that these yachts compete with are not poor value. The Fun Catamaran Cruise from Puerto Rico is €77 per person for 4.5 hours with food and drinks, from a 4.6 average across 1,101 reviews. The Luxury Morning Catamaran, also 4.5 hours with two swim stops, lunch and drinks, is €84 per person and 4.8 from 993 reviews.
For two people those are €154 and €168 for the pair, against €540 for a private boat. You would pay at least €372 more for the privacy, and the yacht is a shorter 3 hours. Whether the quiet is worth that to you is a fair question, but it is not a bargain, and nobody should book a private boat for two believing it is.
More shared trips, with and without food, are collected under catamaran trips and boat trips.
Five private charters compared
| Tour | Duration | Price | Rating | Max. people | Included |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best Private Yacht in Gran Canaria | 3 hours (page says 3 to 8 hours) | €540 per boat | 5.0 (110) | 8 | open bar, tapas, snorkel gear, 2 paddleboards, pickup |
| Private Yacht Excursion with Appetizer, Drinks, and Snorkeling | 4 hours | €540 per boat | 4.8 (64) | 8 on the price label, 10 in the text | cava, open bar, snacks, snorkel gear, paddleboard, pickup |
| Private Yacht Excursion with Beverages, Lunch and Snorkeling | 4 hours | €680 per boat | 5.0 (42) | 8 on the price label, 12 in the text | cava, open bar, snacks, snorkel gear, 2 paddleboards, pickup |
| 1-Hour Private Yacht Cruise along the Coast | 1 hour | €180 per boat | 4.9 (11) | 8 on the price label, 9 in the text | champagne, drinks, food, snorkel gear, paddleboards |
| 3-Hour Private Yacht Trip with Snorkeling, Brunch, and Beverages | 3 hours | €449 per boat | 3.2 (14) | 9 | champagne, drinks, brunch, snorkel gear, paddleboards |
One thing to settle before you pay: on three of these the price label says “up to 8” while the description allows more (10, 12 and 9 people). The page does not say what a ninth person costs, or whether the price changes. If your group is nine or more, ask the operator, because the per-person maths above holds only for the number on the price label.
The one to book: the yacht from Puerto Rico
The Best Private Yacht in Gran Canaria is run by Nirvana Dreams. It is a 40-foot Astondoa 40 Open with a captain and crew, sailing along the coast from Puerto Rico. Included are an open bar (beer, sangria, water, soft drinks and juice), tapas snacks, snorkelling equipment and two stand-up paddleboards. Pickup from your accommodation in the south of the island is listed, with a van and a driver; check the details when you choose a date.
Extras are paid on board: jet ski and parasailing are each listed at €40 for 10 minutes, a sea scooter at €40 for 40 minutes, and towels at €10. The page says those activities are not available after 5 p.m.
Two things to know. The listing says 3 hours and the booking page says 3 to 8 hours, with start times shown only when you check availability. Plan it as a half day and pick the slot you want. And the review summary says some travellers would have liked clearer expectations about sailing time versus time at anchor, so ask the crew how the hours will split.
The same price for an hour longer
At the same €540, the Private Yacht Excursion with Appetizer, Drinks, and Snorkeling runs 4 hours rather than 3, with a welcome glass of cava, an open bar, snacks, snorkel gear, a paddleboard, and pickup and drop-off from 53 listed pickup points. The route goes from Puerto Rico towards Mogán and the Cala del Perchel, a cove the page says is reachable only from the sea. Its 4.8 from 64 reviews is slightly behind the first boat’s 5.0 from 110, and it lists one paddleboard where the other has two. The page lists towels under what to bring. If you can fit 4 hours, this is the better value per hour, and the per-person maths is identical.
Its sister trip at €680 adds a bigger boat (the text says up to 12 people) and a title that promises lunch, though the page describes a snack platter with fresh seasonal ingredients and asks for notice on dietary needs. At €85 each for eight, you pay for the extra room rather than for a better price.
When one hour is enough
The 1-Hour Private Yacht Cruise along the Coast from Puerto de Mogán is the budget way to have a boat to yourselves. At €180 for the boat, it is €90 for two and €45 for four, with champagne, drinks, food, snorkelling gear and paddleboards listed, and wheelchair access is stated on the page. The meeting point is the Cofradía de Pescadores in Mogán; the page does not list hotel pickup.
The catch is the clock: one hour from the port, after boarding and a drink, leaves little time to swim. It suits a short celebration or a group that wants a taste of the coast without giving up an afternoon. Its 4.9 stars rest on only 11 reviews.

The cheap-looking one to check twice
The 3-hour yacht trip from Mogán at €449 for up to 9 people is among the cheapest full 3-hour charters on paper (€49.89 each when it is full). It also has the lowest rating of the five: 3.2 from 14 reviews. One of the reviews on the page is a complaint about a party that could not attend and said the company did not answer messages. Fourteen reviews prove little, but if you pick it for the price, read the recent ones first.
When the private yacht is the wrong booking
- You are two people. At €270 each for the €540 boat, you pay more than three times the €77 catamaran for a shorter outing. Take the shared boat, or the 1-hour yacht at €90 each if privacy matters more than time.
- You get seasick. The pages for the Infinity Boat Tours yachts suggest bringing seasickness tablets. For advice on what to take, ask a pharmacist.
- You have small children. Age limits are not stated on the pages we read, so ask the operator before you book. Our guide to boat trips with children and the wider Gran Canaria with kids cover what to ask.
Our recommendation
A group of eight (or seven, if your catamaran alternative is the dearer of the two): the Best Private Yacht in Gran Canaria. €540 for the boat is €67.50 each at eight, with an open bar, paddleboards, snorkel gear and pickup, and 5.0 from 110 reviews.
A group of six to eight who want the longest time on board: the 4-hour excursion with appetizer, drinks and snorkelling, also €540 for the boat, an hour longer than the first. Per head it is the same sum.
Two to four people who still want a private boat: the 1-hour private cruise from Mogán at €180 for the boat, €45 each for four.
Two people, or anyone watching the budget: skip the charter. The shared catamarans at €77 and €84 per person give you 4.5 hours with food and drinks for less. Browse them under catamaran trips and boat trips.
