Snorkelling from Puerto de Mogán: kayak stop or yacht stop, which tour puts you in the water?
Updated October 12, 2026 · 5 min read
For most people, book the Guided Kayak to Caves and Snorkeling Tour. It is the only one of the four whose page puts a time on the swim: a “secret stop” with swimming and snorkelling, listed at one hour. It costs €65, 4.6 from 390 reviews. If you would rather snorkel from a boat with a group of friends, the 3-hour private yacht trip at €449 for the boat stops at Playa Perchel for exactly that.
Four ways into the water
| Tour | Duration | Price | Rating | Snorkelling on the page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guided Kayak to Caves and Snorkeling Tour | 4 hours | €65 | 4.6 (390) | own stop, one hour, optional |
| Guided Adventure Kayak Cave Tour & Snorkeling | 3 - 4 hours | €65 | 4.9 (422) | optional, led by the guide |
| 3-Hour Private Yacht Trip with Snorkeling, Brunch, and Beverages | 3 hours | €449 per group up to 9 | 3.2 (14) | stop at Playa Perchel |
| 6-Hour Private Yacht Trip with Snorkeling and Lunch | 6 hours | €749 per group up to 9 | 5.0 (4) | several stops, not itemised |
What “snorkelling included” really means
The question that matters is not whether gear is included (it is on all four), but how much of the trip is in the water and how you get there.
From the kayak. On the Yukan tour the swim happens after you have paddled under the cliffs and through the caves: you put on a wetsuit if the water is cold, and the page says to look for silver fish, octopus and coral. The snorkelling is open sea, not a sheltered beach. On the RockNatour tour the snorkel kit is also supplied, but the page calls the swim optional and puts cliff jumping and cave paddling first. If snorkelling is the point for you, the first is the better fit.
From the yacht. The 3-hour boat sails to Playa Perchel for a swim and snorkel, then on to Playa de Veneguera, with the cruising split into 20, 20 and 30 minutes. The page does not say how long each swim stop lasts. The 6-hour boat adds paddleboarding and lunch, but its page does not itemise the six hours, so you cannot tell from it how many snorkel stops you get.
Who is left out
Both kayak tours exclude non-swimmers, and the page for the Yukan tour also lists people with a low level of fitness. The yacht pages we read state no swimming requirement, which does not mean there is none: ask before you book.
A practical point from the Yukan page’s review summary: some travellers say the masks fogged or leaked and suggest bringing your own. The same page asks for biodegradable sunscreen. If you snorkel in your own mask, you remove the most common complaint.
When to pick which
- You want the longest stretch of swimming for the least money: the Yukan kayak tour, €65, with the one-hour stop.
- You want to paddle and jump, and snorkel only if the mood takes you: the RockNatour tour, but note its age band and weight rules, which our kayak comparison goes through.
- Six to nine friends who want calmer water and a lunch: the private yachts, once you divide the boat price by your group size. At six people the 3-hour boat is about €74.83 each, the 6-hour boat about €124.83.
- First time with a mask: none of the four pages describes a lesson for first-time snorkellers, so ask the operator how much guidance you get. Our guide to what you see when snorkelling on Gran Canaria and the wider snorkelling and diving tours are the place to look.
Our recommendation
Book the Yukan kayak and snorkelling tour if you are a swimmer with decent fitness. Book the 3-hour private yacht only for a group of five or more, and only after you have read its reviews.
